European integration confuses citizens and scholars alike. It appears to transfer power away from national capitals towards Brussels yet a close study of the EU reveals the absence of any real leap towards supranationalism. The EU is dominated by cooperation between national representatives and national officials yet it continually appears to us as something external and separate from national. In this open access book, experts on integration processes, integration policies, transnationalism, and the migration and development framework provide an academic assessment of the European Agenda for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals, which calls for integration policies in the EU to involve not only immigrants and their society of settlement, but also actors in their country.

Finally, the book deals with the case-law of European courts on national constitutional identity, including the perspective of various national constitutional courts, such as those of Eastern and Central European Member States, the Court of Justice of the European Union, and the much-less analyzed European Court of Human Rights. Sport has traditionally been considered to be a vehicle for bringing people together (Eitzen, D. S., & Sage, G. H. (). Sociology of North American sport (7th ed.). New York: McGraw Hill), and recently there has been an increasing policy interest to use sport as a tool to promote integration .

European Union (EU), name given since the ratification (Nov., ) of the Treaty of European Union, or Maastricht Treaty, to the European Community (EC), an economic and political confederation of European nations, and other organizations (with the same member nations) that are responsible for a common foreign and security policy and for cooperation on justice and home affairs. Published by the European Forum for Urban Security (Efus), this publication is the result of the “European Prize for Social Integration through Sport - SPORT+” project which was carried out in.
